Christmas Slaughter

December 30, 2011

This Letter to the Editor, published in the Irish Daily Mail [December 29, 2011], is a reminder of the mass slaughter of animals at Christmas. Have mercy on the animals. Go Vegan.

Rampant consumption

Dunnes Stores [Supermarket], just three days before Christmas, was packed with people and goods. We would need another three planets if we wished to maintain this sort of consumption.

It’s easy, too, to see how many innocent creatures have been enslaved, fattened, trapped and killed to keep us fed during this festival of light.

From prawns and fish to birds and fowl, from sheep to pigs to cows; all slaughtered to celebrate the birth of a man who preached compassion and simplicity.
